Total Returns in Charts vs Table

Inconsistent data points: Watchlist missing total returns for certain years, but those same years' data does show up under yearly periodic total return graph/table view
I created a watchlist with a number of stock tickers. Column selected include yearly total return figures. For some stocks, total return columns for certain years show up on the watchlist as blanks. However, when looking at the same tickers individually through a graph view which includes yearly periodic total return as one of the parameters, yearly total return figures are shown for those same years. It will be good if the watchlist (and its associated download) can be corrected to reflect the same year-wise total return figures instead of showing those years as missing. Attached screenshots show one ticker as an example. I'm also attached a screenshot of the download containing data for all the selected tickers which have certain years' data missing (highlighted in yellow).

Hi, any updates on this? It's a pain to have to manually check whether every year's data is present for every stock whenever I download data for a set of tickers I want to analyse offline, and then to manually pick up the missing pieces. It still seems to be keep happening so there is clearly a bug somewhere. Can that please be identified and fixed, so we as users can have the confidence that we will get complete data whenever we need it without needing to manually verify to this level of detail each time? Thx

Dew Wallaby: Yes, we plan to fix this and will update the ticket when in progress. It impacts a relatively small set of Asian equities due to lookback periods during the holiday season.

Hi Panjak! Thanks for your patience while we have been investigating this issue.
To calculate annual total return figures in a watchlist, we need pricing data from the end of December. Our data source doesn't supply pricing data for days when there are no trades. Specifically, we didn't get any pricing data for STRL from the Stock Exchange between December 18, 2002, and January 2, 2003. Therefore, we can't calculate the Total Return for the fiscal year 2002 because we are missing the historical prices. We realize this isn't perfect, but we are looking to improve our approach in the future.

Maria Karpenko As also mentioned in the original request, your chart view for the exact same ticker does show "yearly periodic total returns" for those same years, so it looks like some other part of your code is calculating it based on whatever data is available. A simple approach may be to just incorporate the same logic when computing yearly total returns for the watchlist and the download - at least it will be consistent.
Otherwise investment data websites do seem to show pricing data for those exact dates (see Yahoo Finance link for historical prices for that period: https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/STRL/history/?period1=1038700800&period2=1041465600&interval=1d&filter=history&frequency=1d&includeAdjustedClose=true). Your app has much better user-experience and easy-to-use features, but the quality and inconsistency of your data creates a lot of discomfort about how much confidence we can have in what the system is showing. Great UX unfortunately doesn't help much if we cannot be completely confident about accuracy, consistency and reliability of underlying financial data
