Does KoyFin only run in US time? I'm in the UK and the dashboard doesn't start coming to life until the US opening times, at 13:00 UK time.. Is there a way to see European price action (crude oil, FX etc) at our start time?
Thanks
Conor MacNeil
Hi there,
We only have live equity data for US and Canadian securities at the moment. I will merge your ticket with our feature requests for intraday ex-North America stocks.

The european markets are closed for many hours now but you are displaying the prices of the previuos business day and not of today.

furthermore, it would be nice if it was color colored or something subtle telling us this is a real time quote vs a delayed quote

cost of real time data for non US stocks

I saw in a few posts people asking re real time prices for non-US stocks
and a reply that there was a negotiation with vendors as it was prohibitely expensive.
As an additional data point,
I also use investing.com, and for a subscription price of US$150 / year,
they do offer real time prices on UK, European, HK and Australian stocks (havent checked others).
Now while investing.com offers a lot of data, it does have its disadavantages:
mainly that they have tasked over-caffeinated, color-blind junior marketers to make the interface annoying.
(fwiw, if it is not obvious, I'm hoping to exit investing.com and just use Koyfin).
But if they can afford it, shouldn't Koyfin be able to offer a price tier that included it?
15 minutes delayed would be fine, just better than yesterdays.

Hi Michael, Investing dot com is in the ads business primarily. So too are Google Finance and Yahoo Finance (both of which have considerable resources behind them too).
It's a different model. Google Finance offers intra-day prices for free. So does Yahoo Finance. Investing dot com offers the data, but they are a larger organization that Koyfin and don't have a similar business model.
There are two routes.
1) Licence the data with broad commercial usage. You pay a single price, and can distribute it to all users, regardless of the number of users (in theory). The price is incredible high relative to our size.
2) You create some kind of intermediary whereby the user can subscribe to various pricing packages for live data. This means Koyfin doesn't bear the upfront cost, but is a considerably worse user experience and not something we want to do.
I understand the frustration (I am based in the UK and would like this feature personally), but want to do this, when the time is right.

Hi Conor
In fact the $150 subscription dismisses the ads, ads are just for the free tier,
but I do understand the point about relative sizes
- they have been around a while and have (they claim) a lot of users.
I think one only needs live data when one is planning to execute a trade,
and one's trading platform will give you that.
My suggestion is rather delayed data, say 15 minutes or 1 hour, which I think is more affordable.
The idea that "the user can subscribe to various pricing packages for live data"
is not ridiculous, as most people only want data for particular markets.
You could consider a test for just say your most popular market after North America.
Anyway, it is an important but not a huge issue.

Papaya whip Pike: I was more so referring to the company, investing dot com. They sell subscriptions, but the majority of their revenue is ads, thus they are primarily an ads business. I am not privy to what their terms are, if the rates differ depending on the type of commercial usage, so I can't comment there.
My comments thus far have pertained to delayed (15m) data. Live and/or bid-ask is even more expensive.
I agree it's not a horrible solution. At Koyfin we tend to focus on the best user experience, and while the segmentation of various regional or exchange-based pricing packages is flexible, it's not something we aspire to. We want to offer global pricing for all users.
Rest assured all of the suggestions you make have been discussed internally, we have studied various options, and we still are looking at vendors, and hope to deliver this to users.
As soon as there is a timeline, i'll be the first to update all of our users who have requested this.

The ability to run stock screeners while the market is operating is essential to any trader looking for opportunities. This shortcoming is crippling.
Thank you in advance for your time and cooperation.
