As an update, given this project is now marked as 'In Progress' we will be launching our first version of desktop alerts sometime soon, likely in the second quarter.
The first 'version' of this project that will go out to users is essentially parity with what we have on mobile. So price alerts on US stocks and Press Release alerts on Global stocks.
The next 'version' which will come shortly after will introduce global stock alerts for price, as well as a host of other valuation and technical alerts. These alerts will be expanded to encompass stocks, ETFs, and Mutual Funds. We will also expand the types of documents you can set an alert for to cover filings, transcripts, and news, as well as press releases. Setting document alerts on watchlists and portfolios should also be possible too.
As far as the other great feedback items are concerned, things like AND-OR statements, compounded alerts, alerts for macro data series, and so on, while we are not going to be working on those as part of our initial version of alerts, we have safely stored these away as future improvements that we may look to as we continue to develop alerts functionality on desktop.

It would make the platform a lot more useful if you could receive an email when a company makes a new SEC filling or PR

Receiving emails when price is below or above specific amount. Similar to Price alert notifications that we have in the app.

My guess (assumption) is that alerts will be introduced and then enhanced ... first release would be something like a specific 'hard' trigger, e.g., price at ??, volume spike at XX% above, decline / increase by XX%, new transcript, new analysis, etc ...
for second phase or subsequent, good to have ITTT (If this then that or a conjunctive alert) ... for example, a) if volume spike of 15% above normal AND price decreased by >5% = alert (either one alone = no alert); b) If 10yr treasury goes down by >5bps AND 'target stock' price increases by >2%; or c) earnings release AND 'target stock' price changes >2%.
Much more difficult as the conditions are most likely user entered or at least selected rather than a binary yes / no.
Domains to 'alert monitor' : volume, price, news, company releases, rates, benchmarks, insider buys / sales, debt taken / retired, ... each domain has its set of variables and indicators to measure / alert.
Alerts are key for us 'part time' watchers - i refuse to push my nose up against a display all day (market hours) but want to know when big stuff happens - immediately.

Tropical Crawdad: This is awesome feedback, thanks for taking the time to share it. I am getting into 'desktop alerts' mode as I explore this, so that was helpful.

Hi Conor. Super stoked to get this ability. Let me know if you need me to help Pilot it.

If anyone would like to add context or requests as replies to this comment, now would be a good time. To avoid repetition, we are aware users want alerts on items like filings, press releases, transcripts, price, valuation multiples, etc.

Conor MacNeil Any idea when this feature will be rolled out? I asked the koyfin assistant, I'm assuming in the future you can set an alert on the stock landing page?
Conor MacNeil
Quail Capybara Hey Brendan, I tend to avoid giving ETAs on projects that have not started development yet. We are looking at this for this year and i’ll have a better idea when we narrow down the scope, designs, plan it, etc.
Also, the Help Assistant won’t have context on our internal roadmap.
Regarding the stock landing page and where/how alerts are created, we have to decide on that. We have a few ideas, it could be an alerts dashboard.

Conor MacNeil Gotcha, appreciate your teams work on this as always

Quail Capybara: Hey Brendan, now some time has passed, I can more confidently say this is tentatively being slated for Q2/Q3.

Conor MacNeil - in addition to the details above on types of alerts etc., it would be extremely useful to have a notes field available for each alert -- literally a short text box so the user can add context about the alert. We'll often have multiple alerts on the same security, and without a notes field it's impossible to know the intended purpose / needed action. Thanks!
Conor MacNeil
Colorful Lungfish: We have this in the scope of our initial version of desktop alerts.
Initially we will just have parity with mobile, and check it works okay in desktop, a short period after that we will have all the new bells and whistles.
