hi - i am in uk and portfolio currency is GBP, which can obviously be set for the portfolio but if i add a US stock, the cost is then hardcoded in $ whereas the actual cost to me is in GBP when i buy and returned to me in GBP when i sell. cost and charges included in my transaction costs are also all in GBP. Will this be possible to add as a selection otherwise will be very hard to use for a UK / GBP user, many thanks

Hey Niko, could I ask that you explain this some more?
We already support upload via CSV, so any other context you can provide would be helpful.

Hey Conor, thanks for getting back to me! The CSV file template you guys provide asks for quantity cost, etc. However it'd be a nice feature if there was an alternative that included dividends. Also if there was a way to include total amount traded versus having to manually calculate cost and quantity on our end.

Universal Crab This is helpful context thanks.
I am assuming this is for My Portfolio or Client Portfolios?
The option for Total Cost as opposed to cost per share is a good one.
The dividend question is somewhat related... but this would require something that handles a time series (Daily to Annual) frequency which the current CSV upload doesn't support.
Great feedback though, gives us something to consider here.

Hi John, are you referring to My Portfolio here?
If you add a US stock you can enter the details in USD and we automatically convert all that data to GBP. Just to be clear, the "Cost" field is "Cost per share" not "Total Cost". We have a ticket open to change that language.
We still present the cost per share as USD, but your total costs, market values and P/L as well as total returns all factor in the FX conversion. I.e, they are shown in GBP as expected.
We don't currently support costs and fees, but plan to in future.
I am not sure I understand the issue regarding the currency, can you possibly explain further?

Yes My Portfolio - what i mean is i have a portfolio that has existed in Excel for some years. it doesn't have dates for purchases but does naturally have quantity and average cost in USD per share, as well as total cost (inc charges) in GBP. if i want to upload these holdings manually now one by one, i have no date to submit so how can you apply an appropriate fx to the conversion?
if i could just add my total cost in GBP for the purchase of, say 10 shares in GE, that would include the GE share price on the day x10, plus fx charges and brokerage fees all in GBP

Vivid Heron: Now I understand, thanks for clarifying. Let me comment on a few of these things separately.
1) Purchase date items and FX: Right now, we require purchase dates for all P/L items and Total Return series. You can enter the positions today, we will just not present P/L or Total Return items for those positions. We will still be able to reflect market values and portfolio values.
We plan to alter the logic of our backend so that we can show (excl.FX) items (which use the current FX rate to convert to portfolio currency) without purchase dates. So you could see P/L (excl. FX) and Total Return (excl. FX) for example.
2) It sounds like the option to have a Total Cost field (that is based in portfolio currency) would be a useful addition to the creation for or CSV uploader. I.e, we require you add "Cost per share" or "Total Cost" to validate the position.
