Historical Graph view-panel in "expanded view" cannot be collapsed back to normal. Ruins entire template.

Historical Graph panel for a given metric in "expanded view" (using the icon for that) cannot be collapsed back to normal. So my template I built is useless and has to be deleted & rebuilt. There's supposed to be a faint icon (it seems) in the upper right of the view-panel but it's not there.
